The Magic Kingdom, Mouse Ears, Thanks, and Homeward Bound...

After we hit Epcot it was time to go see the Mouse...Mickey Mouse that is...so off we went to The Magic Kingdom...

Of course we had to travel on the preferred mode of Disney transportation: the Monorail!

I felt like a little kid all over again as we got to the entrance of The Magic Kingdom...I'm glad I got to create these memories with my bestest buddy...

Wow...they welcomed us with our very own parade...oh, they have one every day?  Ok, it was still a nice start for our visit to the land of the Mouse...

We had to get on Space Mountain...

The Speedway has been one of my favorite rides since I was little...when I was locked up doing my time, the one thing I missed doing the most was driving...so I always hit the Speedway back at Disneyland, and I had to hit it here in Orlando...

Thaddeus barely made the height requirement!

My boy kept bumping me...I was stuck behind some slowpoke...darn 5-year old!

My daughter Isabel LOOOOOVES Pooh...so we went off to his barrio in her honor...

Pooh and Tigger were outside...

So Thaddeus and I went lookin' for the hunny...

But we ended up in the cemetery by the Haunted Mansion...another one of my favorite rides...

I love the sayings on the tombstones...

Next was Big Thunder Mountain...

And then we went to go see Jack Sparrow and the rest of the pirates...

Thaddeus had been behaving himself up to this point...

And then...

He ended up in chains...

Once I convinced security that my boy was not an escapee from the mental ward, we hit the
Jungle Cruise...

Looks like these homies got the wrong rhino mad...

Hey, didn't we meet at Gatorland?

These guys bid us farewell as we ended our day at The Magic Kingdom...

I know I had a great time...and looks like Thaddeus did too, by the smile on his face...

Anyways, as we were leaving, I had to pay a bet off...Thaddeus and I played a game of HORSE back at the hotel pool...I lost...this is me honoring the bet...I also want to thank the Boeing Corporation, for the funds they provide the Solar Panel Training and Certification Program at Homeboy Industries, part of which goes to professional development, which is the purpose for our attending Solar Power International 2012...we had  a lot of fun, but we were also able to get a lot of work done...we trained, learned about new innovations in solar technology, and most important, we were able to make more key contacts in the solar industry...thank you Boeing, for believing in what we do at Homeboy Industries.  I also have to thank the Disney Company, in particular Carrie Nocella, Director, Government Relations & Minority Business Development, for the complimentary tickets to Disneyworld...it was the perfect icing on the cake, thanks Disney!  And last but not least, I want to thank Homeboy Industries, especially our Executive Director, Father Gregory Boyle...thanks for believing in the solar team, thanks for trusting us, thanks for LOVING us unconditionally...now it's time to go back to L.A.

A picture of the hotel as we head out to the airport...

Your boys, back in LAX...tired, but grateful...and with that, we are out.

  1. This is extraordinary. What a journey the two of you have taken! You give hope to us all and prove that creating the community of kinship that Fr. Greg talks about is a reality.
